About CHAIN

The Consumer Health Advocacy and Information Network (CHAIN) is a nonprofit focused on advancing bio-science innovation and market-based ideas that improve access to affordable, high-quality health care.

CHAIN was created to bring local community voices into the healthcare debate - and to champion bold, practical solutions to the growing challenges patients and families face. Our goal is to move past polarized rhetoric and keep the focus where it belongs: what works.

Our agenda is centered on reducing out-of-pocket costs for life-saving medicines, expanding access to care, supporting at-risk families, and holding powerful healthcare corporations accountable.

What Guides Us

  • Consumers first

  • Practical, real-world solutions

  • Transparency & accountability

  • Bipartisan, results-driven work

How We Work: 3 Steps

  • Listen: We learn directly from consumers navigating the cost and complexity of healthcare.

  • Research: We combine community input with the best ideas from across the country - including policymakers, think tanks, and healthcare experts.

  • Act: We convene leaders and advocates to advance consumer-driven, market-based solutions that improve affordability and access in our states.

  • No. CHAIN is what we call a-partisan - meaning our work isn’t driven by political ideology or party labels. We focus on practical, solution-driven ideas that put healthcare consumers first.

  • CHAIN convenes a coalition of community leaders, industry experts, public officials, and everyday people across a growing number of states to advocate for fair, effective solutions to the high cost of healthcare.

  • Because too many families are being priced out of care.

We know this firsthand. In 2019, CHAIN found that nearly 60% of Coloradans surveyed were unwilling or unable to seek medical care due to cost. Similar research is planned in Utah, Arizona, and Nevada.

That’s why we do it. Because the U.S. can do better - and together, we can reshape and unbreak healthcare.
