Our Work

    • 2025 Legislative Session: CHAIN helped lead the fight to put patients first in the massive but little-known federal prescription drug discount program. Hospitals siphon hundreds of millions of dollars in 340B discounts that should go to lowering the cost of drugs. Instead, the money flows into a black hole, with no accountability or transparency.  The 340B reform initiative fell short in Colorado’s 2025 Legislative Session, but we are far from finished.

    • The Colorado Prescription Drug Affordability Board (PDAB) continues its 4-year record of wasting taxpayer dollars, ignoring patient concerns and providing ZERO in prescription savings to consumers.

CHAIN joins with other business, patient, consumer and industry organizations in opposing the current path of the PDAB and pushing for an entirely new direction that focuses on saving PATIENTS money, NOT insurers.

    • 2025 Legislative Session: CHAIN launched a first-of-its kind digital communications campaign to organize everyday consumers in the fight for fairer healthcare. Holding drug middlemen accountable and lowering out of pocket costs were key objectives. Over 500 Connecticut consumers signed up to help pass legislation that ultimately was tabled by the state assembly.

    • In Connecticut’s 2026 Legislative Session, CHAIN launched a full-scale communications and consumer advocacy campaign to help defeat SB 494 - a bill that would have expanded the federal 340B drug discount program without meaningful transparency, accountability, or proof that savings were reaching patients.

Through a widespread digital campaign, we educated CT residents about the risks of SB 494 and provided clear tools for them to take action.

By combining public education, digital advocacy, direct constituent engagement, and patient storytelling, CHAIN helped ensure that Connecticut lawmakers heard directly from the people most affected by high drug prices and unaffordable care.

SB 494 was ultimately defeated - a major victory for Connecticut patients!

CHAIN’s Focus is on Three Key Issue Areas:

  • Increasing the Affordability and Accessibility of Care, Especially Prescription Drugs & Hospital Care

  • Promoting Early Detection/Prevention of Life-Threatening Diseases

  • Ensuring Accountability & Transparency from Major Health Care Providers
