Tell Massachusetts Lawmakers: No 340B Expansion!
Massachusetts Moms & Families Deserve Care - Not Hospital Loopholes.
Across Massachusetts, hospitals are profiting off of monies that are supposed to be passed along to vulnerable patients. The 340B drug discount program was supposed to help low-income and vulnerable patients access affordable care. But too often, hospitals use 340B to buy drugs at steep discounts, charge patients and insurers much higher prices, and keep the difference - without proving those savings are helping patients - all while hospitals close essential patient care services and executives rack in multi-million dollar bonuses.
This is not a program working as intended. It is a broken federal program — and Massachusetts should not expand it.
In Massachusetts, this lack of accountability is especially alarming for expectant moms and families. Since 2014…
When maternity units close, moms may have to travel farther for prenatal care, delivery, and newborn services - often while facing higher costs, fewer choices, and more medical debt.
340B is a federal program with federal flaws. The accountability failures, the lack of transparency, the disconnect between hospital profits and patient benefit — these require federal reform by Congress. A state-level expansion would only widen the problem, extending a system that right now has no meaningful requirement to prove it helps anyone.
Tell Massachusetts lawmakers:
→ Put patients before hospital profits.
→ Stop the 340b hospital scam.
→ Massachusetts should reject 340B expansion and focus on real patient protections - transparency, medical debt relief, and Congressional action to ensure savings reach patients, not hospital executives.

To Massachusetts lawmakers:
The 340B program was created to help low-income and vulnerable patients access affordable care. But hospitals should not be allowed to expand the program unless they can prove the savings are actually reaching patients.
Massachusetts families are already struggling with high prescription drug costs, hospital bills, medical debt, and reduced access to care. At the same time, 340B hospitals have closed or suspended maternity services in vulnerable communities across the state, forcing expectant moms and families to travel farther for care.
We urge you to oppose any 340B expansion and instead focus on real patient protections - transparency, medical debt relief, and Congressional action to ensure savings reach patients, not hospital executives.
Patients deserve care close to home - not closed maternity units, higher bills, and hospital loopholes.
No 340B expansion!
Sincerely,
